What affects your moving quote
Every move is different, which is why a fair quote starts with understanding what you are moving and where. The biggest factor is volume: the number of rooms, the amount of furniture and how many cartons need packing. A studio and a five-bedroom villa need very different crew sizes, trucks and time.
Access matters almost as much. A ground-floor villa with a wide driveway is quicker to load than a 40th-floor apartment with one shared service lift. Floor level, lift availability, parking for the truck and the distance from the lift to the loading bay all affect how long the job takes.
Apartment moves
For apartments, building logistics shape the day. Most towers require a move permit and a booked service-lift slot, and some only allow moves at set hours. If the slot is short, the crew size needs to match so everything is loaded in time.
Moves within the same community are usually simpler than moves across Dubai or to another emirate, because travel time is shorter and the crew may already know the building's rules.
Villa moves
Villas usually contain more: larger furniture, garden and outdoor items, garage contents and more rooms to pack. Loading often takes longer, and bigger homes may need more crew or a second truck.
Gated communities can have their own move-in and move-out rules and gate passes, so these need arranging in advance as well.
Office moves
Office moves depend on the number of workstations, the amount of IT equipment and when the move can happen. Many businesses move after hours or over a weekend to avoid downtime, which needs planning with both buildings' management.
Services that change the scope
Packing is the biggest optional part of most quotes. Full packing means the crew packs everything with proper materials. Partial packing covers only fragile items or the kitchen. Self-packing means you pack the cartons yourself.
Furniture dismantling and reassembly, wall-mounted TV removal, storage between homes and specialist handling for pianos, artwork or large mirrors all add to the scope. A good quote lists each of these clearly.
How to get a fair, accurate quote
Declutter before the survey, so you are not paying to move things you will throw away. Book early, especially for month-end dates when demand peaks. Share building details up front: floor, lift booking rules and parking.
When comparing quotes, compare what is included, not just the total: packing materials, crew size, dismantling, reassembly and any building-related work. Ask what could change on the day. A video or in-person survey gives a far more accurate quote than a guess over the phone.
